March 1, 2026

There will be substantial changes to how our Cowboy range operates after March 1, 2026. Beyond February, there are still many issues to be resolved. It’s unclear how many stages will be set up for any of the matches. Again, there are many more issues to be resolved. Following is Barbwire’s message to our members…

Notice to all club members:

Things are changing at Cowtown Cowboy Shooters shooting range.

Starting March 1, 2026 the range will no longer be ours.

The Cowtown Range management is rewriting the contract so that they can utilize the area we use for other sporting events.

We will be able to use the range in a Ben Avery protocol using the range 6 days out of each month. For each match, that’s one day for set up and one day to shoot. That’s three matches a month – two Cowboy and one Wild Bunch.

After each match, all targets are to be taken off the range and stored in a storage container that we rent from them. All bays will be cleaned up of any trash and shotgun wads after each match.

Once lead has left our guns it will belong to Cowtown Range for them to reclaim, along with any brass that is left on the range after each match that we do not pick up ourselves. There will not be any open practice from this point forward unless arrangements are made in advance.

As for January and February 2026 we will continue as we have been under the existing agreement. I have agreed to only keep 3 bays active so that we can maintain the lead control in a smaller area and cleanup of trash and wads after each scheduled shoot.

The AZ Wild Bunch Championship will be 5 bays and Fire and Ice will be the full 10 Bays.

The week between the 2 matches will be open for practice for EOT.

If you go out and practice you are required to clean up your brass, shotgun wads and trash before you leave the range. We will be able to leave the steel on the 3 bays that we are using until March 1, 2026.

Thank your for your cooperation.

Note: You must have current membership for 2026 to be able to practice.
